Saturday 26 January 2019
Gresham Centre, St Anne and St Agnes Church, Gresham Street,
London EC2V 7BX

Registration from 10.00 am, informal concert, 4.00 pm

Join ex-members of the renowned Hilliard Ensemble and award-winning City Chamber Choir for a day studying, learning and singing music by Palestrina, MacMillan and Tallis.

Is it for me?

City Chamber Choir, the friendly group that rehearses and performs in the heart of the City of London, invites you to take part in this workshop on the stunning double-choir Stabat Mater by renaissance master Palestrina and the Miserere and O Radiant Dawn by Sir James MacMillan, the leading contemporary Scottish composer.

City Chamber Choir is delighted and honoured to be working alongside three ex-members of the world-famous Hilliard Ensemble: Rogers Covey-Crump (tenor), David James (counter-tenor) and Gordon Jones (baritone) and expects to gain many valuable insights into vocal technique, ensemble singing and tuning  from their combined wealth of experience.

Our study day ends with an informal concert at 4.00 pm (open to all – please do invite your friends). A bonus will be the performance of Arvo Pärt’s And one of the pharisees by the three ex-Hilliards.

If you are an enthusiastic amateur singer, who would like to explore these beautiful choral works, brush up on singing technique and find out about the historical and musical context of the works during the course of an enjoyable day, then this is for you.

The Gresham Centre, St Anne and St Agnes Church is a beautiful and historic building in the heart of the City of London, near St Paul’s Cathedral. Wren’s building has been sympathetically updated to provide a comfortable rehearsal and performance venue. For further information visit
